This website will host the results of the MIGMERICAS Virtual Exchange «People on the Move: European Migration and the Remaking of the Americas in the Long 19th Century», organized within the framework of the European Academic Network Enlight, with the participation of the following universities: Universität Bern – Estudios Iberoamericanos de Berna (BEIAS), Switzerland; Universidad del País Vasco / Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, Spain, and Universidad Nacional de San Martín, Argentina.

During the first semester of 2026 students from the three universities have participated in a collaborative endeavour to study and research about the impact of historical migrations from/to their close environments, both in Europe and the Americas. Students were organized in five thematic groups, each of them with the objective of creating an audiovisual production in which an aspect linked to the history and memory of migrations is analysed, departing from three main examples focused on Switzerland, Spain and Argentina. All these outcomes will be premiered during this workshop of the Spanish Association of Americanists in a special session to be held on June 25th, 2026 in Espinosa de los Monteros. Students will participate presentially and online to present their work and comment it with the audience.
